Los Angeles, California - In partnership with the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks and Art2, AUTUMN LIGHTS LA 2009 debuts at Pershing Square Park as an annual event (next year to be expanded to a 3 day weekend event filled with light art) in Downtown Los Angeles, Saturday, September 19, 2009.
Returning from its successful 2006 and 2007 events, AUTUMN LIGHTS LA 2009, showcases Los Angeles artists presenting various forms of studio and performance art that feature installations, performances and projections utilizing the medium of light.
Partnering with the Standard Downtown LA Lilli Muller curated a teaser installation at the Lobby of the Standard Downtown LA and a projection off the roof top for the night of the event including the artists: Jerico Woggon (blacklight installation), Desirae Hepp (lit Fabric installation), Lustre (video projection in the lobby) and Lilli Muller and Rick Mendoza with their video projection on the roof top.
Plug-In time 7pm: Pershing Square will be literally transformed as the entertainment continues and a range of illuminations and projections light up park sculptures and surrounding buildings.
This day to night arts festival will include concessions and hosted community information booths. It will be open to the public and free of charge. In the sprit of Los Angeles’ Sister City Berlin and its annual “Festival of Lights“, this event will be a family friendly outdoor art gallery that will further promote Downtown Los Angeles as a world class cultural destination. In the future we will live broadcast in real time coinciding the festival with Berlin in a cultural and creative exchange of continents.
This event is curated and produced by downtown Los Angeles artist, Lilli Muller, a community organizer for the downtown community and Arts District for the past 20 years.
